A superb model of the BR standard shunting locomotive from Hornby. Manufactured from completely new tooling, this model features full outside frame and fly crank detailing, accurate bonnet detail, sprung buffers and a full cab interior with control console. Driven by a powerful skew-wound 5-pole motor fitted with a flywheel for smooth running, even a standard DCC socket has been incorporated into the loco wiring. Locomotive 08 402 is modelled in mid-80's BR blue, while it was based at Carlisle Kingmoor. This locomotive did not have the two tanks under the front end during this period. 08 402 is now allocated to Motherwell in Glasgow.

Hornbys class 08 model is the best detailed model to date of BRs standard heavy shunting locomotive. The latest tooling developments have allowed very fine details to be reproduced and allowed opening cab doors to be fitted. The cab interior has not been neglected and a fully detailed driving console is provided, with controls picked out in appropriate colours. The 5-pole skew wound motor and low gearing provides plenty of power and smooth slow running, ideal for shunting on your layout.

08 799 named Andy Bower is painted in the EWS maroon and gold livery, giving this mundane shunting engine a much brighter image.

A completely new top quality model from Hornby, the class 31 features 6-axle drive from a centrally mounted skew-wound motor and flywheel, with drive to the radiator fan as well. Bodyshell and underframe are both well detailed with many separately fitted parts from small grab rails on the cab ends to sand pipes and speedometer cables.
31110 wears the BR Civil Engineers 'Dutch' grey and yellow livery of the 1990's detailed as a refurbished locomotive with revised radiator grilles. This locomotive originally had headcode discs, though these were removed on refurbishment. Sprung buffers and screw couplings are fitted, while NEM pockets with tension lock couplings, brake hoses and multiple cable detail parts are supplied to be fitted as required. DCC Socket Fitted

Hornby model of class 50 50013 'Agincourt' as running on BR Western region during the late 1970's with recessed roof air filter intake. This well detailed model features sprung buffers, openable cab doors and dozens of individually fitted detailing parts including grab rails, footsteps and MU jumpers.

Built by English Electric at their Newton-le-Willows factory with the first of the class entering service in 1967. Originally leased to BR from EE for use on WCML services north of Crewe - Glasgow before the line had been fully electrified, the whole class were transfered to WR in the 1970's where they would be named after famous warships.

This Hornby model with it's centrally mounted motor and drive to all twelve wheels (again a first for the British modeller) giving impressively smooth running capabilities and excellent haulage capacity. Other feautres include opening cab doors plus working fan and directional lighting.

56 049 is a Doncaster locomotive, painted in the Railfreight grey livery with red solebar stripe. The stripe relieved the blandness of the early plain grey Railfreight livery and was first used on the exposed solebars of the class 58 locomotives. Supplied for DC control, with a DCC decoder socket.

Reintroduced from the former Lima range the class 59 was always a nice model and has now been upgraded with a new motor and DCC socket. The body is neatly detailed with accurate profile and corrugated side panels.

The class 59/2s are used by EWS on a range of duties and make a good choice for added variety among a fleet of 66s.

A welcome return of the former Lima model of the EWS class 67 locomotive, fitted with a centrally mounted motor providing drive to all four axles. The bodyshell is finely detailed and a wire roof grille cover is fitted, greatly enhancing the roof features. Hornby have updated the model with a DCC socket for easy conversion to digital control. A pack of additional detil parts is supplied, including a dummy screw coupling, brake hoses, ETS jumpers and fixed pilot extension plates.

The Lima 67 was always among the best of the companys' products, fitted with a central motor and drive all four axles. Hornby have re-introduced the model in the current royal train livery. This locomotive is also frequently seen working other prestigeous trains, including the VSOE Orient Express Pullman train. Just like all of the other class 67s the locomotive has also been seen on many freight trains.

The Southern region of BR had invested in an extensive network of third-rail electified routes. The class 73 locomotive was designed to make the most of this network for goods trains, with an on-board diesel engine to propel the locomotive in sidings and on non-eletrified branch lines. This model is painted in the locomotive green livery carried by the class when orginally built.

Hornby have re-worked this former Lima model, fitting a skew-wound 5-pole motor, greatly improving on the previous Lima mechanism.

The class 73 locomotive was designed to operate from the Southern region third-rail power supply or from an auxiliary diesel engine for use in sidings.

This model from the former Lima range captures the character of these locomotives very well and now features an improved drive mechanism.

GB Railfreight operate several members of the class, including 73 204 on goods services in the South-East and on special passenger trains using hauled stock. The GBRf 73s have been popular visitors to many preserved railway diesel galas, so these locomotivers can often be seen well away from the former Southern region.

The class 50 locomotives were displaced onto secondary express duties by new HST trains delivered in the early 1980s. Many of the class were adopted by Network South East, hauling express services from London to Oxford and Exeter. The BR class 87 locomotives provided the main power for West Coast trains between London and Glasgow until the end of the BR period. Several have continued to serve with Virgin Trains until the Pendolino trains were completed.

Hornbys' model of the 87 features a 5-pole skew-wound motor and non-functional pantograph. NEM coupler pockets have been fitted to allow different coupler types to be fitted if desired.
