Driven by a powerful skew-wound 5-pole motor fitted with a flywheel for smooth running, even a standard DCC socket has been incorporated into the loco wiring. Locomotive 08 402 is modelled in mid-80's BR blue, while it was based at Carlisle Kingmoor. This locomotive did not have the two tanks under the front end during this period. 08 402 is now allocated to Motherwell in Glasgow.

The 5-pole skew wound motor and low gearing provides plenty of power and smooth slow running, ideal for shunting on your layout.
08 799 named Andy Bower is painted in the EWS maroon and gold livery, giving this mundane shunting engine a much brighter image.

A completely new top quality model from Hornby, the class 31 features 6-axle drive from a centrally mounted skew-wound motor and flywheel, with drive to the radiator fan as well. Bodyshell and underframe are both well detailed with many separately fitted parts from small grab rails on the cab ends to sand pipes and speedometer cables. 31110 wears the BR Civil Engineers 'Dutch' grey and yellow livery of the 1990's detailed as a refurbished locomotive with revised radiator grilles. This locomotive originally had headcode discs, though these were removed on refurbishment. Sprung buffers and screw couplings are fitted, while NEM pockets with tension lock couplings, brake hoses and multiple cable detail parts are supplied to be fitted as required. DCC Socket Fitted
