Class 50 fans will not be disappointed with the model featuring sprung buffers, ladders, fine louvre detail, scale couplings and a small version of the Hornby working coupling. Sporting an excellent paint job, 50 045 is finished in NSE livery with a weathered finish.

After completion of the West Coast mainline electrification in 1972, the 50's were gradually transferred to the Western Region to replace withdrawn diesel hydraulics. In the mid 70's they were renumbered to 50 001 to 50 050, with number 400 becoming 50 050. Continuing Western Region's naming policy, all the class took names of a WW2 warship.
