Bachmann set new standards for model locomotives using a heavy die-cast chassis with centrally placed motor to drive two axles on both trucks of the mainline locomotives. Shunters benefit from extra weight and low gearing as well. 2004 marked the 15 years of Bachmanns' British range and the locos have steadily improved, particularly with the introduction of Blue Riband range, and combine realism and detail with scale speed and train pulling performance. Take a look at the superb weathered versions of many locomotives. Just the way they looked after a few hundred miles out on the tracks.

Fitted with an on-board DCC sound system this class 20 brings the distinctive engine sound of this early British diesel locomotive to your layout.

This BR blue liveried locomotive 20 034 represents the initial production batch of the class 20s equiped with train headcode discs. A centrally mounted motor drives all four axles via driveshafts, providing smooth running and excellent hauling capabilities. A small pack of additional parts including extra sandboxes, brake pipes and MU cables is supplied, allowing different configurations to be modelled. The DCC decoder can be used straight out of the box, or tuned to suit the running of your layout.

DCC On Board locomotives are supplied with a factory fitted DCC decoder, ready for service on your DCC controlled layout. These models will also work normally with conventional DC controlled layouts, but should not be used with feedback controllers or high frequency track cleaning apparatus, as these may cause damage to the on board electronics.

The sound equiped chassis can be fitted to several other class 20 bodyshells. We can supply non-weathered class 20s with this chassis if requested. (note:subject to stock availability)
