| > OO Locomotives > Bachmann Diesels | Bachmann set new standards for model locomotives using a heavy die-cast chassis with centrally placed motor to drive two axles on both trucks of the mainline locomotives. Shunters benefit from extra weight and low gearing as well. 2004 marked the 15 years of Bachmanns' British range and the locos have steadily improved, particularly with the introduction of Blue Riband range, and combine realism and detail with scale speed and train pulling performance. Take a look at the superb weathered versions of many locomotives. Just the way they looked after a few hundred miles out on the tracks.

DCC Ready
Virgin Class 57/3 Thunderbird locomotive, 57307 Lady Penelope is modelled complete with the Delner coupling for assiting/towing Virgin Pendolino trains. Traction power is supplied by a motor mounted centrally in a diecast chassis block, with drive to all six axles. Sprung buffers and highly detailed coupler units are fitted, with a standard tension lock coupling at one end. The front end, where the cab contains a driver figure, is fitted with a dummy screw link type coupling, a tension lock unit is supplied. Etched roof grilles and nameplates complete this superb model.
A highly detailed model of the recently build Virgin Trains Thunderbird series of class 57 locomotives. The class 47 bodyshell has been more heavily modified with new roof grilles. A heavy diecast chassis with a central skew wound motor provides plenty of power, while following agreement with the licence holder these Bachmann locomotives will carry the correct 'Thunderbirds' names and logos on etched plates. Note that this model locomotive does not have printed nameplates, an outline box being printed to assist you with fitting the separate nameplates. Etched brass nameplates can be secured with a tiny spot of suitable adhesive, spread thinly. | |
