Bachmann's new class 47 model features a heavy chassis with six-axle drive from a centrally mounted 5-pole motor, directional lighting and correct radiator grilles for each locomotive/period depicted.

47 148 was one of the steam heat only class 47/0 and is modelled in BR rail blue livery fitted with the original three-grille roof radiator arrangement and four-character train description still in use. 47148 was allocated to several Western region depots in the 1970s and 80s.

47148 was built in mid 1964 as D1741, being sent new to 86A (Cardiff Canton) in two-tone green livery. A year later the locomotive moved to 82A (Bristol Bath Road) until leaving the Western in October 1967, moving to the Midland. The locomotive served several divisions of the Midland region before returning to Cardiff Canton in May 73. A brief nomadic tour of the Western region followed, with allocations to London Old Oak Common and Bristol Bath Road before renumbering as 47148 in Feb 74 and a more permanent allocation to Swansea Landore from Nov 74 to Oct 76. Briefly allocated to Bristol 47148 returned to Swansea in May 77 staying until Oct 82, when the loco moved to Cardiff Canton again. 47148 left South Wales as a resident for the last time in Feb 86, moving to Bristol Bath Road again until July 87 when the locomotive was withdrawn from service and moved to Tinsley for storage. The end came in September 1989 in the MC Metals Glasgow yard.
