With a heavy die-cast chassis the extra weight of a Heljan locomotive is apparent as soon as it's picked up. This, plus a powerful 5 pole motor, gives a very good haulage capacity - up to 15 coaches on level track. Heljan OO Class 26 5340 BR Blue (2603)

Delivery of the class 26/0 commenced in 1958 with a pre production run of twenty locos numbered D5300-19. Their success resulted in a further batch of twenty seven locos been built numbered D5320-46 and were classed 26/1 of which this model represents and were allocated to Scotland from their introduction, the main differences between the sub classes been modified bogies and revised cantrail grille arrangement.

Model is in BR blue livery with full yellow fronts as carried by this class from 1967-73

This model features a number of factory fitted detail parts including screwlink couplings, wire handrails and sprung buffers. Also a number of sprues with additional components are included for the purchaser to fit if you so wish: full bufferbeam detail including various pipes and snowploughs, headcode discs in open or closed posistions for your preffered choice, boiler exhaust blanks and air horn covers, and a detailed representation of the tablet catcher aparatus as was used on many of the scottish locomotives.
