An excellent model of the very popular BR class 121 single car diesel multiple unit train, often referred to as a 'Bubble Car'. This former Lima model has been released by Hornby with a revised drive mechanism incorporating a DCC socket.

This model of unit 121 020, car number 55020 is currently in operation with Chiltern Railways and painted in their pale blue livery with silver stripe. The model is DCC ready and can be supplied with a decoder fitted if required.

These self-contained trains replaced elderly steam trains on many branch line passenger services in the 1950's and many are still operating today on the national network and heritage railways. The single car train has always been popular with modellers, alllowing a passenger train to be incorporated into a minimal space.
