An excellent Great Western Railway train pack from the Victorian era. Featuring a William Dean designed 4-2-2 'single wheeler' locomotive Royal Sovereign in the full Victorian livery with indian red frames, highly polished dome and scroll lettering. The 7ft 8in driving wheel gives this class a regal look, quite befitting the 'Royal Road'. Three clerestory coaches in the famous chocolate and cream livery with the panel lines picked out with chocolate colour complete what is a very attractive pack.

Named after a famous racehorse of the mid-19th century the 'Flying Dutchman' service was first operated by the Great Western Railway from 1862. The train ran from Paddington to Didcot at the astounding average speed of 55mph!

Era 2

A classic train pack featuring a former Caledonian Railway single driving wheel locomotive, the last of its' type to be withdrawn from service by the LMS in the early 1930s.

A train of three LMS crimson lake liveried coaches are supplied to form a suitable lightly loaded service from the 1930s which this locomotive often worked around Perth and Dundee.

A BR Western region train pack featuring Castle class 4-6-0 5007 Rougemont Castle equiped with a flat-sided Hawksworth tender hauling the Red Dragon express, one of the principal South Wales express trains.

The locomotive carries the early BR lined brunswick green livery of the 1950s with a tarin of three ex-GWR corridor coaches including a buffet car painted in the matching crimson & cream livery. Set on the famous Somerset and Dorset route the twin bores of Chilcompton tunnel form the backdrop to this painting of Bulleid West Country light pacific 34042 Dorchester leading a train past a group of gangers preparing to deal with a lineside fire, no doubt the result of another trains' assault on the steeply graded climb from Radstock. The S&D was a jointly owned line with locomotives and coaches supplied from the LMS and SR, an arrangement which continued under BR administration, hence the ex-LMS coaches being hauled by a Southern locomotive.

This train pack contains an excellent model of 34042 Dorchester in original condition with air smoothed boiler casing with a train of three ex-LMS Stanier design coaches.

In the days when Londons' principal airport was at Croydon the Southern Railway provided special express trains to transport airline passengers from London to the airport. During the 1930s Imperial Airways opened routes to the farthest corners of the British Empire using luxuriously furnished aircraft.

This Imperial Airways train pack featuring one of the Southerns' free-running T9 class locomotives with a short train conveying a Pullman car and a luggage van. Ideal for speedily transporting the dignitaries, diplomats and personalities from the early days of commercial aviation.

In 1969 the world famous Gresley A3 class number 4472 Flying Scotsman was taken to the USA to haul a British trade show train.

This model replicates 4472 on the USA tour, fitted with appliances required for operation in North America including a locomotive bell and hauling two tenders to provide adequate water supply. The pack also features one of the Devon Belle Pullman observation cars which was taken to the USA as the tail car for the exhibition train.

Flying Scotsman made a successful trip across the USA and was popular with railroaders and fans along its' route. Sadly the train was not a commercial success. The private intervention of Sir William McAlpine ensured the repatriation of the famous locomotive which is now part of the national collection and expected to return to mainline tour service in 2011.
