The GWR iron mink was built in the early years of the 20th century. Built from iron and well protected by paint these vans were virtually indestructible and many were still in service at the end of WW2. The subtsantial construction was also useful for transporting explosives safely and many were used as improvised gunpowder vans duing two world wars.

This is an easy to build kit, take care to ensure that the axles are square so it will run well. The wagon can be painted in the GWR dark grey livery, or paint the wagon in black and add gunpowder van markings. Several private owners also ordered wagons based on this design, Spillers (flour) and Ferrocrete (cement) are well-known examples.

This permanent way train set includes a twin-set of single bolster wagons, close-coupled using a drawbar and two open ballast wagons. A set of steel beams is supplied as a load for the bolster wagons.

The single bolster wagons are more challenging kits as the body cannot be used to help with rigidity. Experience of building wagon kits is recommended, however the kits are well designed and quite simple, building the two open wagons first to gain an understanding of the constcution plus care, patience and 'dry run' test assembly will produce excellent results.

 Many of these wagons worked on the French railways in the immediate post war period. About 1,900 were assigned to work on the Continent until the early 1950s. A fleet of almost 8,000 operated widely throughout BR until the mid 1960s. Our model gives the modeller the choice of either the original pressed steel side doors or the replacement standard doors, which many sported.

These ale wagons were rebuilt from the long Tube wagons. The sides could be lifted out to allow access to the full lnegth of the wagon for loading and unloading of pallettised goods.

This kit is quite easy to build, though care is needed to ensure that the floor and solebars remain lfat and level during construction to ensure the completed wagon runs well. The addition of some weight is essential for good running.

A finely moulded plastic kit to build a model of the BR standard 21-ton coal hopper wagon fitted with vacuum train brakes. Coded HTV under the TOPS description scheme many of these wagons were still in service in the 1980s serving the remaining coal concentration distribution depots.

Hopper kits are more complex to construct than open wagons or box vans due to having many awkwardly shaped parts. Taking time to understand the fit of the parts will ensure that you can obtain excellent results from this well designed kit.

A detailed plastic kit to build one of the Southern BY utility vans, equiped with accomodation for the guard. Kit includes metal wheels and bearings.

Developed from the standard PMV with uneven planks the body was extended to accomodate a guards' office and hand brake in the centre. Built in 1937 these vans were still in service until the late 1970s.

The well-known Southern CCT/PMV was derived from the design on which this kit is based. First built by the SECR (South Eastern & Chatham Railway) shortly before grouping. The Southern railway continued the design into the early 1930s, before revising the body to uneven planking to make better use of the timber available. Many of the orginal design, including SECR built vehicles were still in use in the 1970s, though most were in use as engineers stores vans by 1980.

Revised from the final Southern Railway body style with pairs of wide and narrow planks, this construction was retained for the doors, but replaced by plywood sheeting for the main body. 150 vans to this design were built during the early 1950s and some were still in service in 1980.

10-feet wheelbase air braked chassis as used under the air braked vanwide VEA kit.

The FAT suspension units with roller bearings are supplied separate from the moulded solebars and W irons, making this kit an ideal source of parts for converting other Parkside kits to represent the air braked adaptations made to some older wagon designs.

The LNER built an unusually long 4-wheeled carriage truck, a quite distinctive design.  These vans had quite long lives, many finding a home with the engineers as stores vans after withdraw from revenue service.

Horsebox vans were a common sight on Briatins railways until the 1960s. This model kit is the GWR design dating from the 1920s, with a grooms' compartment, large side doors to allow horses to be loaded and unloaded easily and a stowage compartment for fodder.

Equiped with passenger type suspension, vacuum brakes and often steam heating these horseboxes would be conveyed by passenger trains on many branchlines and by secondary trains on the mainline. Long trains of horseboxes were also seen sometimes, especially when a major race meet or polo tournament was imminent!
