Four-wheel coaches were common in the early days of railways, but longer twin-bogie corridor coaches introduced around 1900 relegated them to branch lines and workmens trains, some survived into the 1950's.

An excellent model of the GWR Collett steel bodied 3rd class coach built during the 1930s.

A very nice model of the Collett design smooth steel-sided composite brake coach from the 1930's. This model carries the Great Western's post WW2 livery, which could still be seen in the early 1950's.

A staple of any Great Western layout the 2-coach B set trains were used on branchline and local train services across the GWR network.

Formed with two of these brake composite coaches coupled with the guards' van at the outer ends the normal motive power was a small tank engine. Those modelling the Swindon and Bristol areas could find any engine, even the Kings making test runs with a B set on local services!

Another differently numbered coach R4319A is also available.

The teak paneling on these coaches is superb, with excellent grain colouration detail and no duplication of patterns. The interior is just as well detailed to, with partitions, seats and panelled lavatory doors fitted with door knobs. Sprung buffers are fitted along with fully detailed ends with separate tank filler pipes, plus underframe and trucks complete with rivet detail. The Buffet car includes full interior detailing with 1930's stainless steel counter fittings.

These 57ft long wood panelled coaches were built in the 1920's and lasted into the 1960's. This Bachmann model has raised panel beading and is now fitted with turned metal wheels. The simplified LMS crimson livery represents the scheme used during the 1930's, lasting into nationalisation.
