The big four railway companies operated their internal trains with their own coaches, presenting a unified image. There was variety under the surface however and many trains crossed the boundaries, being passed on to another company with just a change of engine. Through trains linked major cities, with the participating companies providing coaches or trains in proportion to the milage run on their tracks. Many connections were provided by through coaches, some trains were even formed entirely of portions from/to the other railway companies.

Completely new tooling has allowed the full range of coach types to be manufactured, including this Brake Composite. The rendition of the teak paneling on these coaches is superb, with excellent grain colouration detail and no duplication of grain patterns. The interior is just as well detailed to, with partitions, seats and panelled lavatory doors fitted with door knobs. Sprung buffers are fitted along with fully detailed ends with separate tank filler pipes, plus underframe and trucks complete with rivet detail.

Built from 1933 these varnished teak coaches were used on the London North Eastern Railway. The Brake Composite was the most common type utilised as a 'through coach' to places off the LNER system. Such coaches would be attached to other companies trains for South Wales and holiday destinations in the South West, South coast ports (Southern) and many West Coast cities served only by the LMS.
