Bachmann 1 Brassworks 57XX Pannier Tank Painted Black (BW1020)
A superb ready-to-run gauge 1 model of the GWR 57xx class pannier tank. This would be an excellent start for anyone considering British gauge 1 modelling, or adding British locomotives to 45mm gauge garden railways.
The model is fully assembled and ready to run, painted in a plain black, ideal for modelling the BR steam era.
No numberplates and crests are supplied, allowing you to complete your own locomotive as any one of the original design 57xx class, with lining if desired.
The GWR 57xx class was an updated design of shunting engine intriduced in the 1930s. The flexibility of these locomotives saw them take on many trip or pick-up goods trains and the class worked on most of the GWR's popular branch lines.
Most BR locomotives were painted black at their first repaint after 1948, with lining applied to some classes. Only express passenger locomotives were permitted the lined brunswick green livery. The panniers should all have been painted plain black, though the rules were often honoured in the breach! |
