A new model from Bachmann, representing the second design of passenger coach built by British Rail. Integral construction enabled a more spacious interior to be created, with the bodyside curving beneath the combined floor and underframe structure. The model recreates the body profile very well, complete with the raised window frames and flush glazing. Beneath the floor the battery boxes and vacuum brake cylinders are fitted, along with the cranks and push rods of the brake rigging, fitted as separate parts.

The coach modelled was allocated to the midland region, but these coaches operated on many cross-country services and reached all parts of the British Rail network. Tension lock couplers are fitted in NEM pockets and Bachmann's dummy brake pipe bar coupling units are supplied.
