| > OO Coaches & Wagons > BR Coaches Corporate | | British Rail's new corporate image of the mid-1960's saw the introduction of the familiar blue and grey passenger coach livery, along with the InterCity express train marketing brand. Plain blue diesel and electric locomotives hauled these coaches across the country for many years, with progressive advances in speed and passenger comfort. In the mid-1980's brightly coloured sector liveries began to appear, with principal expresses gaining a distinctive InterCity livery, while Network South East formed a coherent image for the commuter belt. | Bachmann OO BR MkI RMB Miniature Buffet Car Blue/Grey (39-264)
A very nice model of the Minature Buffet car. These coaches have a small buffet counter and food storage area near the centre, able to serve basic food and refreshments. Bachmann's model features the smooth riding commonwealth cast steel bogie and the extensive water supply piping on the roof. NEM pockets are used to permit tension-lock of bar type couplers to be fitted.
The blue and grey livery was trialed in the mid-1960's and steadily replaced earlier liveries by the early 1970's. The RMB miniature buffet car was widely used on the BR network to provide basic refreshment services on secondary express and cross-country trains. These coaches are very popular with preserved railways, offering a good mix of buffet refreshment service and seating capacity. | |
