The second class side corridor coach was probably the most common type of British passenger coach until the 1970's. This superbly detailed model of the BR Mk1 SK wears the corporate blue anmd grey livery, seen from the mid-1960's onwards. Equiped with metal wheels in BR Comonwealth style bogies, full roof, corridor end and underframe detail is fitted.
Coach number E25832 represents an Eastern region allocated vehicle, but this coach would normally have been seen far from the east coast as BR's network of cross-country trains expanded during this livery period. | |

Bachmanns BR Mk.1 coaches are the best models yet of these popular coaches. Familiar to enthusiasts everywhere hundreds of these coaches are still in service on tour train sets and heritage railways.
This is a model of the composite side corridor design, with four first class and three second class compartments. E15768 is painted in the BR blue and grey livery used from the late 1960s onwards and carried on the smooth riding B4 pattern bogie.
This type of coach was often used to provide first class accomodations on short 4-5 coach cross-country trains, ideal for many model railways. | |

A very nice model of the Minature Buffet car. These coaches have a small buffet counter and food storage area near the centre, able to serve basic food and refreshments. Bachmann's model features the smooth riding commonwealth cast steel bogie and the extensive water supply piping on the roof. NEM pockets are used to permit tension-lock of bar type couplers to be fitted.

A new model from Bachmann, representing the second design of passenger coach built by British Rail. Integral construction enabled a more spacious interior to be created, with the bodyside curving beneath the combined floor and underframe structure. The model recreates the body profile very well, complete with the raised window frames and flush glazing. Beneath the floor the battery boxes and vacuum brake cylinders are fitted, along with the cranks and push rods of the brake rigging, fitted as separate parts.
The coach modelled was allocated to the midland region, but these coaches operated on many cross-country services and reached all parts of the British Rail network. Tension lock couplers are fitted in NEM pockets and Bachmann's dummy brake pipe bar coupling units are supplied. | |

The InterCity branding and marketing initiative started with the introduction of the new mark 2 stock. Bachmann's model displays the blue and grey livery with InterCity lettering, as carried by these vehicles when new in the late 1960's. The mark 2 coach was developed with air conditioning added in the early 1970's and by the mid 70's the early mark 2 coaches had been displaced from InterCity duties into the general service pool. In many cases InterCity lettering would have been retained until an overhaul and repaint had taken place. | |

Featuring neatly fitted flush glazing and many separate parts including underframe equipement and brake push rods Bachmann have produced an excellent model of the BR mark 2 coach.
Initially allocated to major InterCity trains the arrival of air-conditioned versions of the mark 2 coach displaced the earlier types into the general service pool. 5353 represents a mark 2A coach in the early 1980's, after regional allocations were discontinued. | |

An excellent model of the BR unclassified restaurant coach in the corporate blue and grey livery.
These coaches remained in mainline express trains for many years after the standard coaches were relegated to secondary services, as no buffet cars were built to match the Mk2 stock of the late 1960s and 70s. The RU design was equiped with a large kitchen able to provide full meal service when required. | |

The BCK was one of the most versatile coaches from the Mk.1 build. Equiped with a small guards' van and luggage stowage area, two first class and three second class passenger compartments these coaches could provide the basic accomodation needed on any train. Ideal for through services where trains divide to serve more than one destination and as an emergency stand-in for any defective coach.
The Bachmann model is possibly the most detailed version of the standard Mk.1 coach in OO to date. | |
