The versatile LMS 3-plank drop side wagon was continued by British Railways as the sandard medium height goods wagon. This wagon carries the BR bauxite livery, together with XP markings.

These wagons were equiped with vacuum train brakes and long-wheelbase chassis, allowing operation in fast goods trains and attachment to local passenger trains. Ideal for conveying road vehicles, containers and crated loads these wagons were widely known by the 'Medfit' description code. No LMS or early BR era layout is complete without a few of these useful wagons.

The ex-GWR design brake vans were popular with the BR engineering departments, probably due to the generous covered accomodation available and enclosed veranda allowing tools to be stored safely in transit. This van is marked for use by the engineers of the signalling and telecommunications department.

The blue-spot fish vans were redeployed after the end of regular fish traffic on BR. A number of these vans were used for express parcels traffic for many years, painted in the plain blue livery applied to BR passenger-rated parcels vehicles. These will certainly be an interesting addition among the bogie vans in a parcels train.

Many thousdands of former private owner wagons were taken over by British Railways in 1948. A large number of these wagons were repaired and repainted into the BR grey goods livery, making them a key feature of the early British Railways period. These rebuilt wagons worked alongside the new steel wagons, being the last wooden bodied coal wagons to be replaced.

This model in the BR grey scheme is an ideal wagon for the 1950's and 60's era. Coke extension boards are fitted, a fuel type for which the wood body wagons were much preferred.

Based on the new Graham Farish model of the BR standard box van this model is of one of the insulated variets. These vans were used for traffic requiring protection from temperature variations, including fresh meat and chilled food products. This model carries the white livery carried by these vehicles to ensure insulated vans were easily identifyable. When traffic requirements for these vans decreased they were often used as general service box vans.

A new model in the Graham Farish range this represents the standard BR bogie bolster wagons, used to convey long loads, for example lengths of structral steel section.

This wagon is painted in the BR goods grey livery, as carried from new and in steadily weathering condition well into the 1980s.
