Expected 2nd quarter 2010

Many of the 6-wheel milk tank wagons ended their service lives with plain silver tanks and a black stripe. The tanks were used as water carriers for engineering work and often stored for long periods. This wagon displays the results of the attention of the local youths with spray cans.

A new version of the BR ZKA Limpet engineering wagon announced for 2010.

This is a very good model of the Limpet open wagon, with the distinctive cut-out top panels in the centre of the wagon sides. These were general material carriers, the cut-outs ensured that the wagon was not overloaded when filled with ballast, while the higher sides allowed increase capacity for lighter loads.

The Limpet ballast wagons re-used older air-brake equiped chassis to help replace engineering wagons built in the 1950's with more modern vehicles. Bachmann's model captures these distictive vehicles well, including the cut-out panels in the centre of the sides intended to prevent overloading with ballast, while retaining the high sides useful for??????many lighter track materials.

Painted in the then current grey and yellow livery, inspired by the dutch railways locomotive scheme, the rebuilding has extended the useful life of these wagons.
