Dapol N GWR 4866 Autocoach 190 Auto Train Pack (ND080set2)
This pack contains GWR 14xx 0-4-2 tank engine 4866 and auto trailer 190 in the GWR 1930s livery with shirtbutton logos. This is a complete matched train, the 48xx class being equiped to allow the train to be driven from the cab at the end of the autocoach. These trains operated many branchline and local passenger services, making this set an ideal addition to any model railway.
You can easily upgrade your GWR auto train pack into a train set by adding out NTRACK track and controller pack.
This is a complete matched train, the 48xx class, later renumbered into the 14xx series, being fitted with connections to allow the driver to control the locomotive from the cab at the end of the auto trailer coach. This simplified brachline and local train operations, allowing the train to run in either direction without needing to uncouple the locomotive an run around the train before departure.
Locomotive 4866, later renumbered 1466 is a particularly historic locomotive, being the first engine purchased by the founders of the Great Western Society. Auto trailer 190 was purchased in 1970 and has been fully restored to run with 1466, preserving a complete typical GWR branch train. Today the Great Western Society maintain an excellent collection of GWR locomotives, coaches and wagons at Didcot locomotive shed. | |
