| > N Gauge Locomotives > LMS Locomotives | Graham Farish N BR 48709 Class 8F Locomotive Black Early Crest (372-152) An excellent N gauge model of the Stanier 8F 2-8-0 heavy goods engine. A modern steam locomotive designed in the 1930's and built in large numbers buring WW2, the 8F's served until the end of steam on BR in 1968. The diecast chassis and reliable drive mechanism provide power for hauling long goods trains. The valve gear and motion is well represented along with boiler pipework and rivet detailing. A high sided Stanier style tender carrying the early style of British Railways crest is paired with this locomotive. The powerful, smooth riding and versitile 8F class was introduced on the LMS by Sir William Stanier in the 1930's and served with distinction in the UK and overseas through the second world war. Members of the class were still in service at the end of steam on BR in 1968. | |
