more | Graham Farish N BR 48773 Stanier 8F Class 2-8-0 BR Black Early Crest (372-153)
Marking 40 years since the end of regular steam traction on British railways, this model of now preserved Stanier 8F class 2-8-0 48773 recalls the locomotives' final days of service on BR and starring role on the LCGB Farewell to Steam railtour.
The Stanier designed 8F heavy freight 2-8-0 engines were among the very last locomotives in service with British railways in 1968. A large number of these modern and robust freight engines had been built through WW2, 48773 served in Persia, Egypt and Iran before returning to Britain in 1957. Selected as the 8F in best all-round condition in July 1968, with only 36,000 miles since last major overhaul, 48773 worked the LCGB Farewell to Steam railtour on August 4th, prior to being purchased by the Stanier 8F Locomotive Society and delivered in working order to the Severn Valley Railway. more..

more | Graham Farish N LMS 6404 Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-0 Plain Black (372-627)
New model announced 2007. Delvery date to be advised.
The Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 locomotives appeared in 1946, designed as modern replacements for the Victroian era 0-6-0 engines used on many branchlines. Based on the similar 2-6-2 tank engines the addition of a tender gave the locomotives a much greater range, better suited to the irregular demands of goods train services. Following the ironing-out of initial steaming difficulties the small 'Mickey Mouse' moguls continued to be built until 1953, from when the almost identical BR standard version, modified slightly to conform with the BR standard loading gauge and fittings, was built instead. Total build was 128 locomotives from Crewe, Darlington and Swindon works. 7 have been preserved and continue to serve on Britains' heritage railways.
6404 was one of only 20 locomotives completed before nationalisation, but would have carried its' LMS livery for several years after 1948.
more | Graham Farish N BR 46440 Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-0 Lined Black Early Emblem (372-626)
A welcome addition to the N gauge range, the Ivatt class 2MT (mixed traffic) 2-6-0 moguls were introduced by the LMS after WW2 as replacements for the 50+ year-old locomotives in use on many branch lines.
These modern steam locomotives provided crews with an ecconomical, free steaming and smooth running engine. The tenders were equiped with cab back sections to provide tank engine comfort while running in reverse, but with the increased water and coal capacity.
Adopted as a standard type by British Railways 128 of these locomotives were built at Crewe (LMS) Darlington (LNER) and Swindon (GWR) works between 1946 and 1953. 65 of the near-identical BR design were built from 1953 with a slightly revised cab outline and standard fittings. more..
