A very good model of the Stanier 8F 2-8-0 heavy goods engine. The nicely weighted chassis and drive mechanism provide power for hauling long goods trains. The model is paired with a Fowler style tender, just like many of the prototypes.

The powerful, smooth riding and versitile 8F class was introduced on the LMS by Sir William Stanier in the 1930's and served with distinction in the UK and overseas through the second world war. Members of the class were still in service at the end of steam on BR in 1968.
