Dapols superb BR Class 73 'Little ED' (Electro-Diesel) 73134 'Woking Homes' in Intercity livery.

A superb model of the BR Southern region class 73 with a custom designed chassis and fitted with a low profile motor for smooth operation at all speeds plus direction controlled lighting. An excellent standard of detailing has been achieved on the bodyshell, with body structure members depicted behind the side grilles and full depth detailing on the truck side frame mouldings. The livery is very finely reproduced with handrails, kick plates and roof panels all correctly coloured, even down to the yellow caps on the axle bearings.

The class 73 Electro-diesels were built for British Railways Southern region to power locomotive hauled passenger and goods trains. Basically an electric locomotive taking power from the 3rd rail system an auxiliary diesel engine was fitted for use in yards and docksides where the third rail could not be fitted and other places where breaks in the third rail made locomotive working difficult. These useful locomotives are probably best known by the public for their use on Gatwick Express services.

Woking Homes is the railwaymens' residential retirement home, founded in 1885.
