Specially commissioned with Dapol in the striking First Great Western Regional Fleet livery, Dapol have advised that First Great Western have made available the original artwork used to produce the vinyls on the full-size trains. The model will therefore feature the fine printed detailing which Dapol have used so successfully on the photo-liveried 156 models.

The First Great Western Regional Fleet livery features the wave or swoosh pattern lining formed using the names of prominent towns, landmarks and tourist destinations throughout the West of England. The 153 trains serve many of the scenic main and branch lines in Devon and Cornwall, destinations made famous by the GWR. The single-car 153 trains provide an ecconomical transport all-year-round, with the bonus of quickly forming longer trains at busier times. This versatility can take a 153 anywhere on the FGW network, with single units having been used regularly on services from Gloucester to Swindon, Worcester, Great Malvern and Bristol. From Bristol the units run to sunny Severn Beach and usually as a twin set to Cardiff, Portsmouth, Weymouth and Taunton.

Truely one of the most useful trains for followers and modellers of todays' Great Western.

The Settle-Carlisle Railway : England's Most Glorious Line

A special edition N gauge class 156 unit 156 484 featuring the stunning pictorial???Settle & Carlisle route livery.
This complex scheme advertising the scenery of the famous Midland route to Carlisle features views of the routes' best-known landmarks, a steam hauled special crossing the Ribblehead viaduct, the Citadel at Carlisle, High Cross at Appleby and Horton in Ribblesdale station. The scheme was developed by Northern Rail in association with the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line and the Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company.

Dapol have described this as a mightily difficult design, but have taken up the challenge of reproducing the images using the digital???reproduction technologies now available. We all hope for success in this venture, which will open the path to many more exciting and highly collectible photographic liveries.

These models will incorporate the Dapol Platinum chassis, with directional lighting and 6-pin DCC sockets for motor and lighting control. Provision for the installation of a sound system in the 'dummy' end power car is being considered at the design stage.

The BR class 150 units entered service as the first of the 'second generation' diesel units under the 'Sprinter' marketting banner. This representative of the non-corridor???class 150/1 units carries the original sprinter logo.

This particular livery is normally only available in the train set, hence there is no cardboard wrapper for this train.

The 153 units are the usual trains on many of the scenic but lightly-used cross-country branchlines in Wales. Many of these services are essential, providing public transport connections to many towns and tourist destinations in remote parts of the principality. Units can easily be coupled together, or coupled to other 'sprinter' types to form longer trains wehn required, making the 153 a particularly flexible and useful part of the Arriva roster.
