The first successful diesel trains were the GWRs' streamlined railcars. British Rail built Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) to take over from steam locomotives on branchline and suburban passenger trains in the 1950s and 60s.

Following on from the superb Voyager train released last year Dapol have revised the bodyshell, drive mechanism and bogies to represent the tiliting Super Voyager trains.
The four car train is driven by a 5-pole skew wound motor combined with low friction drive gearboxes to power all four axles on one of the intermediate cars. Both of the end cab cars are fitted with directionally controlled lighting and the units have been designed for easy fitting with DCC decoders and sound system if desired.
221 144 Prince Madoc is being released as a 4-car train, with an optional extra coach available separately.
