The 20-ton coal wagon had been in use for many years, but became more widespread with the introdcution of these steel bodied wagons in the 1930s.
Bolsover was one of the large coal distributors, able to make use of large capacity wagons, having them painted in red oxide with the company name spelt out in an arch on the side.
