The Bachmann BR (ex-GWR) brake van is an excellent and well detailed model of these distinctive vehicles. This version carries the BR unfitted light grey paint scheme with black patches for lettering.

A model of a typical 5-plank open wagon painted in the early BR goods grey livery. Many thousands of these wagons were inherited from private owners at nationalisation, many needing to be rebuilt. These wagons lasted into the 1960s before being replaced by newly build wagon types.

Dapol have produced a very nice model of the BR design banana van. These???wagons were similar to ordinary box and fruit vans, but adapted with insulation and in some cases heating specially for the transport of imported bananas.

These vans ran in trains of varied length, according to the destination demands and could also be seen running singly to deliver smaller loads. When not needed for banana traffic the vans would sometimes be used for other 'clean' goods.

The return of the LNER style wooden 20-ton 9-plank open wagon. These long wheelbase wagons had two drop doors fitted each side, plus bottom hatch doors.

An excellent model of the rivetted construction??BR 21-ton steel bodied open mineral??wagon. The rivet patterns around the sides and structral components are well represented and lettering is cleanly printed. A load with three coal heaps from the loading plant is fitted.

These wagons were??used to move coal for large consumers, such as power stations and steel mills. Normally a trains of these wagons would operate from colliery to consumer as a block train, but??a wagon would occasionally escape into the house coal service. This Dapol wagon has metal wheels to provide smooth running characteristics.

Chemicals giant ICI operated a wide variety of wagons, including this BR Presflo design. Painted in the companys' sea green colours these wagons were used for powder type materials including salt products.

British Railways inherited thousands of coal wagons from the ministry of transport, these having been requisitioned during WW2 for pool use. Many of these elderly wooden wagons were not fit for further service. Those wagons??????still in good condition were overhauled and repainted in goods grey, surviving through the 1950s until replaced by new-built wagons.

Bogie well wagons were used for loads which would be too tall to fit inside the loading gauge (the maximum size of the train which will pass through bridges etc.). The depressed central well section allowed the load to be carried below the floor level of standard wagons.

This model is a GWR designed 45-ton capacity wagon as running during the early British Railways period, painted in the light grey goods wagon livery. Several suitable loads are available, including large boilers and electricity power transformers.

Following the pooling of coal wagons during WW2 many thousands of privately owned wagons were passed to British Railways at nationalisation. These wagons were painted in the standard grey livery and given numbers prefixed with the letter P.

Ordered by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) during WW2 these early 16-ton mineral wagons formed the initial stock or these wagons, later expanded to a fleet of over 200,000. These wagons were mixed with the later BR standard types, providing more variety for your trains.

Well detailed model of the sloped side version of the well known 16-ton steel bodied mineral wagon. Lettered as a wagon operated by the Ministry of Transport, some of these wagons were in service before nationalisation.

The slope-sided type 16-ton mineral wagon, as built for the Ministry of Works and Transport during the 1940's. These wagons were later taken over by British Railways and slowly repainted into BR grey livery.

A good model of the BR single-planked lowfit wagon. These useful wagons could convey loads which required only a flat wagon to carry. This includes crated loads and road vehicles. These loads could easily be chained down, while the low sides ensured that???any loose items like???chain ends???were retained within the wagon in transit.

Lowfit wagons were marked as unsuitable for carrying containers as they did not have the lashing rings fitted to purpose-built container flats, but railwaymen found that containers could just as easily be secured???by ropes around the buffers.

The Bachmann BR 'MedFit' 3-plank open is a good model of these???very common low sided merchandise wagons. Here the wagon is conveying a BD type container, a load these wagons were often selected for when none of the???purpose built flat wagons were available as the sides were high enough to retain the container.

BR midland region numbered wagon.

The Southern Railway built batches of their standard box vans with the distincive alternating broad and narrow planks for all of the major railway companies during WW2. These vans passed to BR in 1948, carrying regional numbers appropriate to their previous owners.
