The new Hornby system differs from the conventional type of 12v controllers in as much that it is the individual locomotives that are controlled internally rather than the controlling a locomotive's speed and direction by varying the current to the track.

The Hornby Select Digital Controller is the perfect way to enter the digital world of model railways. The Select is capable of having control of over 60 locomotives and, providing power is available, run at any one time, 10 of them. The Select can also operate 40 accessories including point motors.

The Lenz L60500 Digital Plus Compact has brought DCC to the mass of railway modellers and is an excellent choice for people starting or already into DCC, for those wishing to move up to the Set 90/100 in the future will find the Compact is fully compatible and can be used as an extra controller. It will handle 100 (2 digit) loco addresses and 100 point/signal addresses, the Lenz Compact has a separate programming output and a XBUS (now termed XpressNet) input.

The Set 90 consists of the LH90 walk about handheld unit with rotary knob throttle control and the LVZ100 (5 amps) command station/amplifier, and comes complete with full instruction manuals for setting up.

The Set 90 and Set 100 are identical, the only difference is in the style of the handheld, if you like that smooth feel of a knob control then the Set-90 is best. The Set 100 will support up to 31 XpressNet handhelds.

The LH100 is perfect for the dedicated enthusiast who wants to delve into the depths of all DCC’s capabilities.Many operators use the LH100 for programming and operate with the LH90. The LH100 can also create momentary functions on a per function per locomotive basis. XpressNet devices such as the LH100, LH90, and XPA can take advantage of any available momentary functions once set up by a LH100.

An upgrade for the Dynamis (36-505) unleasing the full potential of the Dynamis system with functionality comparable with the most powerful market leading DCC systems currently available.

The Dynamis system has been designed on a modular basis from the outset, allowing new modules to be developed and added easily. The Dynamis Pro upgrade is supplied complete with an expander module, allowing up to 5 IR modules to be connected, plus one additional IR module and extension cable. The pro box is designed to fit beneath the Command Centre in a stack, communicating through the multi-way connector underneath the command centre box.
Upgrading to Dynamis Pro allows the attachment of up to 5 IR sensors, eliminating range and line-of-sight issues on even the largest layouts, plus up to four Dynamis handsets (36-507) can be registered, giving additional operators full access to your layout.

That's not all the Pro box does! It is equiped with the ECoSLink high speed data bus interface allowing access to ECoSLink compatible devices and has a programming track output. By careful system design the programming track can even be incorporated into your layout and used as a regular section of track in normal service.

Don't forget that the registered locomotive data is held in the handset, making it easy for you to take your handset and engines to run on another Dynamis controlled layout.

The Hornby Select and Elite units are capable of having connected to them up to 7 Select Walkabout units. The addition of these units to the Select and the Elite does provide independent control of up to 8 locomotives providing electrical power is available.

Using the Walkabout units in this way makes it also possible that a locomotive can be passed from one controller to the next and then the next in much the same way as a full size train is handled on the main line as it passes from one section to the next.
