Bachmann OO BR 76079 Standard Class 4MT 2-6-0 BR2 Tender Late Crest (32-952)

A superbly detailed model of the BR 4MT 2-6-0 with separately fitted pipe runs, detailed cab interior, detailed tender interior coal space and removable coal load. Careful design of the chassis has allowed the daylight visible below the running board to be reproduced while accomodating a capable motor inside the boiler to provide power for prototypical length trains. An additional optional detail pack is supplied containing cab side doors, brake pull rod assembly, front steps and cylinder drain pipes.

This is the first ready to run model of the BR standard 4 2-6-0 mogul, a design which followed on from the LMS 4MT.
76079 is paired with a BR2 tender with its distinctive tender cab windows alongside a recessed coal hopper. 76079 survived into preservation and is still operating on the national network. Known widely as the 'pocket rocket' for it's outstanding performance, the locomotive continues to prove the efficiency and utility that was designed into the standard 4 mogul.

DCC Ready. This model requires an 8-pin decoder for DCC conversion.

Remember! Antics Price includes mainland UK delivery of your new locomotive.

76079 was completed at the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Horwich works in February 1957. She was sent to the LM shed at Sutton Oak, but it's career covered much of the BR network, including recorded visits to the Bristol St Phillips Marsh and Barrow Road sheds. Withdrawn in 1968, 76079 was sold for scrap to Woodham Bros. and towed to Barry. Busy with wagon scrapping work Woodhams' steam locomotives remained almost untouched and 76079 was the 59th locomotive to leave the scrapyard for preservation in July 1974.

An illustrious second career has followed on heritage railways and mainline excursions, covering many areas of the British railway network and including trips over the South Devon banks and Cambrian Coast lines. The performance of the small mogul on the mainline has led to it being widely known as the 'pocket rocket' and encouraging confidence among train operators in the successful operation of 76079-hauled specials.
