Both Hornby and Bachmann sets use standard OO/HO track which is compatible - either may be expanded with either Hornby or Peco track. The loco's and rolling stock are also compatible as the couplings are very alike and will connect without problem. Both use a mains powered controller providing a 12v variable speed supply for one locomotive. Unless stated otherwise they are ready to run once assembled.

Hornby OO Permanent Way Breakdown Set (R1029)

In the early '50's railway yards everywhere were bustling with activity, resulting in inevitable accidents. Due to the urgency of the task, and the need to clear lines as fast as possible, a suitable locomotive would be taken from other duties to pull the 75 ton crane and support vehicles to the scene of the accident.

This set represents the type of maintenance unit that would have been called to the rescue. Set Includes a BR 0-6-2T N2 locomotive, 75 ton operating brakedown crane, ex LNER breakdown coach and vent van, with an oval of track plus "Track Pack A" giving you a small siding to stable your train.
