Both Hornby and Bachmann sets use standard OO/HO track which is compatible - either may be expanded with either Hornby or Peco track. The loco's and rolling stock are also compatible as the couplings are very alike and will connect without problem. Both use a mains powered controller providing a 12v variable speed supply for one locomotive. Unless stated otherwise they are ready to run once assembled.

Hornby OO Local Freight Electric Train Set (R1085)
An excellent starter train set pack containing the Little Giant, a small 0-4-0 side-tank shunting locomotive, with two goods wagons and a guards brake van. An oval of track measuring 1070mm x 1040mm is supplied, together with the Hornby trackmat, measuring 1600mm x 1280mm (approx 5ft2in x 4ft2in). Power is supplied from a Hornby controller with UK mains plug-in power transformer. Additional track and building packs are available to construct a simple but effective multi-track layout.
