This special limited edition train set was produced to mark the 60th anniversary of VE Day, the end of six years of war in Great Britain. Featuring one of Hornby's new models of Sir William Stanier's famous streamlined LMS Princess Coronation class pacific locomotives, 6243 City of Lancaster, painted in the wartime plain black livery with a weathered finish, plus two LMS crimson composite coaches and one brake coach, all with a weathered finish. Despite the work-stained wartime colours the powerful and stylish streamlined locomotive brought back the optimism of the 1930s as the boys came home from the battlefields to the jubilant street parties.

In addition to the basic oval of track and Hornby track mat this set includes Hornby track expansion packs A and B, allowing several sidings to be added which can be used to store more trains. A UK mains power pack and speed controller are supplied. More track packs are available to expand your model railway.
