Following on from the NRM commissioned model of the iconic Deltic prototype locomotive Bachmann have received athorisation to produce a model of the locomoitve in N gauge.

Painted in the striking powder blue livery with cream lining the powerful Deltic locomotive toured BRs mainlines in the late 1950s.

Delivering substantially more power than contempary diesel engines Deltic was also considerably lighter, providing startling acceleration and a top speed over 100mph. Follow-on orders came for 22 production locomotives dedicated to the East Coast route, increasing train speeds and replacing over 50 steam locomotives.

This model carries the BR blue livery and TOPS number 14029. This livery was never applied to the class in BR service, but D9529 was painted in this scheme following preservation. Subsequently this locomotive has been used on the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and hired out for yard shunting duties on the 'mainline'.

A very nice model of a BR class 40 locomotive, powered by a centrally mounted motor, the heavy diecast chassis allows realistic trains to be pulled.
Built by English Electric in the late 1950's these 2000bhp units were among the first successful British diesel locomotives. Rapidly displaced from passenger work by lighter and more powerful locomotives in the 1960's, the class 40's hauled goods and engineering trains into the late 1980's. Although allocated principally to BR Midland region, class 40's were regular visitors to South Wales goods yards in the south and Scotland.

Green was probably the main Warship livery, the class did not start receiving the maroon livery of the later Westerns??? until 1966, by which time the corporate rail blue livery was being agreed. Most of the class did make it into a variation of maroon for a brief time??? before the corporate livery??? wiped away the regional identities again.

When air-conditioned stock was introduced in the early 1970s power for the extra equipment was needed from the locomotive. A number of the class 45 locomotives were modified to supply electric power for train heating. The 45/1 sub-class spent many years hauling???secondary express passenger services, including the principal cross-country NE-SW services.

Freightliner class 57 locomotive

Converted from BR class 47 locomotives Freightliner's class 57s were intended to provide reliable motive power for the new freight operator. Revised plans resulted in the company purchasing class 66s similar to EWS, however the 57 fleet continues to??operate, often paired with a 66.

Converted from BR class 47 locomotives Virgin Trains class 57's are used to assist or rescue ailing??trains.??Stand-by locomotives have long been referred to as Thunderbirds, after the TV series of the same name, with Virgin Trains naming these locomotives after characters from the series.

Converted from BR class 47 locomotives following trials of the prototype conversion 57602 (also due from Graham Farish). First Great Western ordered a small fleet of these locomotives to replace ageing class 47s on overnight sleeper train duties. The locomotives also undertake stoke movements, assist and rescue duties for First Great Western.

The Freightliner class 57s have recently been sold on to other operators, 57011 being purchased by DRS and painted in their latest blue livery with compass logos.

A non-powered or dummy model of EWS class 66250, the last of the initial EWS order for these locomotives.

This model is unpowered, ideal for modelling double-headed (two locomotives coupled together) and top-and-tail (one locomotive on each end of the train)???powered???trains by pairing this model with another powered locomotive.

Note that non-powered locomotives do not feature lighting.

Freight company Fastline operate a number of class 66 locomotives to destinations all over the UK. We have even seen these engines passing close to our warehouse in Gloucestershire hauling HYA coal hoppers. Regratably, following problems with the parent companys' finances, Fastline recent ceased trading, making this one of the latest 'heritage' liveries.

A new version of the class 66 locomotive in the livery of freight operator Fastline. These grey liveried 66s can be found all over Britain, often hauling bulk coal trains of leased hoppers, but also found on hire to other operators.

A new numbered Freighliner class 66 locomotive detailed as 66623 named Bardon Aggregates to commemorate the partnership between the companies for aggregate bulk haulage, removing heavy stone lorries from Britains' motorways.

Cab end and buffer beam detailing will include hook, brake pipes and optional front valance. The chassis is designed to be DCC compatible for easy decoder installation.

DRS locomotive 66 405 is painted in this special advertising livery, marking the partnership between DRS and logistics services company Malcolm Logistics.

This model is of DRS owned class 66 412 which has been painted in a special livery for services operated in conjunction with distribution logistics specialists Malcolm Logistics. The Malcolm Rail venture sees heavy lorries taken off the road network as freight is transferred to rail for trunk haulage.

Dapol have produced an excellent model of the class 66 and this special release represents 66725 named Sunderland. A steam locomotive style nameplate has been fitted, marking the links between the football club and the LNER B17 class locomotives, nicknamed Footballers due to the naming of many members of the class after football clubs.

Joining the EWS N gauge class 67 fleet is this model from Dapol of 67008, painted in the???EWS maroon and gold livery.

Built for Royal Mail and parcels services the 67s can now be found hauling many???passenger services, often in top-and-tail operations with a locomotive at both ends of the train. The locomotives have also proved capable of hauling freight trains, making them surprisingly???versatile for a locomotive originally intended for high-speed passenger service.
