An additional version of Hornby's new class 31 model in rail blue, finished with realistic light weathering. The centrally mounted skew-wound motor and flywheel drives all six axles, with drive to the radiator fan as well. The bodyshell and underframe are highly detailed with many separately fitted parts specific to each locomotive. Sprung buffers and screw couplings are fitted as standard, with NEM plug-in tension lock couplings, brake hoses and multiple cables supplied to be fitted as required. DCC Socket Fitted.

Hornby's Hymek model is a good model of these classic hydraulic locomotives. Powered by a proven and reliable drive mechanism the bodyshell is accurate and has good detailing. Experienced modellers may prefer the highly detailed Heljan models, but this robust, budget priced Hornby model is an excellent choice to expand a younger modeller's collection.

A weathered version of the BR class 58 locomotive in Railfreight triple-grey livery with coal sector markings. This is 58050 Toton Traction Depot, the last of the class 58 build and originally equiped with experimental traction control systems.

One of these locomotives from the first batch of weathered Railfreight Coal livery class 58's has been found in our stock. The model is new, however the front card is missing.

Hornby's new Class 60 model lives up to expectations. Driven by a powerful 5-pole motor this highly detailed model of the BR's last heavy freight locomotive promises excellent performance. Through careful design of the chassis Hornby have successfully modelled see-through grille, with the internal details fitted inside, the characteristic feature that earned the class 60 their 'doughnut' nickname. The BR class 73 was an electro-diesel locomotive, able to operate from the Southern region 750-volt third rail electric supply or the internal 650bhp diesel engine. This flexibility made the locomotives ideal for hauling the British leg of the Venice Simplon Orient Express and 73101 was painted into this Pullman livery to match the classic Pullman cars of the train.

Hornby have re-worked this former Lima model, fitting a skew-wound 5-pole motor, greatly improving on the previous Lima mechanism.

The class 56 is being brought up to the level of detail, smooth running and train pulling capabilities demonstarted by Hornby's recent new diesel locomotive models. The tooling design allows for any bodyshell variation to be manufacturerd, correctly modelling locomotives built by different works and later alterations.

This model is supplied for analogue DC control, with a DCC decoder socket. 56013 was one of the first batch of class 56 locomotives built by Electroputere in Romania.

For many years the class 47 locomotives were the backbone of the British Rail diesel fleet. Virgin Trains used this locomotives, named "The Queen Mother" until the class were replaced by new Voyager units.

The excellent Lima class 73 model returns with a new mechanism for improved running.

Equiped with an on-board auxiliary diesel engine the class 73 locomotive has always been useful as a standby on the Southern electrified network. This model of 73 235 is painted in the South West Trains livery, acting as a rescue locomotive for SWT services.

When released this Hornby model was a huge advancement in British outline models, bringing us nearer to what American modellers have been enjoying for a few years now. With it's centrally mounted motor and drive to all twelve wheels (again a first for the British modeller), this loco has impressively smooth running capabilities and excellent haulage capacity. The class 86 electric locomotives have been the backbone motive power for the West Coast mainline since the mid-1960's. This Virgin livery locomotive representys the class in recent years before the introduction of the new Pendilino trains. Many of these locomotives are now stored, while a few coontinue to work passenger trains in East Anglia and haul Freightliner trains on the West Coast.

The BR class 87 locomotives provided the main power for West Coast trains between London and Glasgow until the end of the BR period. Several have continued to serve with Virgin Trains until the Pendolino trains were completed.

Hornbys' model of the 87 features a 5-pole skew-wound motor and non-functional pantograph. NEM coupler pockets have been fitted to allow different coupler types to be fitted if desired.

87004 Britannia is painted in the BR InterCity livery with swallow logo, carried during the later part of the 1980s and into the privatisation era. This model is DCC ready and can be supplied with a decoder fitted if required.
