" of Dyehouse Sidings, were based in Woodchester near Stroud, Gloucestershire, on the MR Nailsworth branch which left the MR south west main line at Stonehouse. Matthew Grist of Merrett's Mills opened a ledger in January 1905 and is listed in a 1906 trade directory as a `washed wools and mill-puffs manufacturer'. Still trading in 1935. | |

A spectacular Cardiff wagon which matches the Dapol moulding almost exactly. The R.C.H. (1923) specification standard type private trader open mineral wagon. Wagons lettered in this livery actually ran on the main line in full service and provided useful advertising for the builders, The Cambrian Wagon Co. Ltd. In most cases the wagons were hired or leased to private traders. Eventually, relettering took place, changing the name to that of the operating private trader.

Released originally as part of the 2-wagon Woodchester set, we have re-ordered a batch of these 7-plank Harris & Co wagon as an individual release. Woodchester today is a quiet country village near Stroud, but in the first half of the 20th century it was a busy industrial centre on the Midland Railway's branch to Nailsworth. Harris & company marked their wagons for delivery to Dyehouse sidings, ensuring delivery to the correct private siding of the many such sidings in Woodchester at that time. | |
