Continuing our series of private owner wagons is this interesting 7-plank open operated by John Stephens, Son & Co. Ltd. of Gloucester and fully describing their business as "Jam & Pickle Manufacturers & Vinegar Brewers". Another wagon to add variety to your trains and for the collector of unusual private owners.

Antics Limited Edition. Expanding our range of Limited Edition private owner wagons, we present a 5-plank open in the grey livery of Hathway, based at Ryeford, between Stonehouse and Dudbridge Junction on the old Midland Railway Nailsworth branch.

Another addition to the Antics Private Owner range. This model is in the attractive brick red livery of Cheltenham coal merchants Critchlow and Sheppard.

Another model from our own Antics limited edition run of private owner wagons from the areas of our stores. This model is in the livery of Stroud based coal merchant James Smith.

Specially produced limited edition wagon for Antics. W. Miles was based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, probably in the Midland Railway depot at Wallbridge. This was a terminal of a further branch from Dudbridge junction on the MR Nailsworth branch which left the MR south west main line at Stonehouse. Deep in the heart of GWR territory.

These are the 3rd & 4th Antic's special edition wagons, in a twin pack. "Matthew Grist" and "Harris & Co. " of Dyehouse Sidings, were based in Woodchester near Stroud, Gloucestershire, on the MR Nailsworth branch which left the MR south west main line at Stonehouse. Matthew Grist of Merrett's Mills opened a ledger in January 1905 and is listed in a 1906 trade directory as a `washed wools and mill-puffs manufacturer'. Still trading in 1935.

Specially produced limited edition wagon for Antics featuring a wagon produced for Empire Coal Co. Ltd. Production limited.

A spectacular Cardiff wagon which matches the Dapol moulding almost exactly. The R.C.H. (1923) specification standard type private trader open mineral wagon. Wagons lettered in this livery actually ran on the main line in full service and provided useful advertising for the builders, The Cambrian Wagon Co. Ltd. In most cases the wagons were hired or leased to private traders. Eventually, relettering took place, changing the name to that of the operating private trader.

Joining our range of wagons from the Stroud area this 7-plank open wagon was used to supply coal to "The Purified Flock & Bedding Company"'s Spring Mills in Nailsworth, at the end of the Midland branch which also served Stroud. An excellent model for collectors of unusual private owner wagons.

Joining our range of Stroud valley wagons, this detailed model of a 5-plank open wagon was operated by Wm. Playne. Manufacturers of woollen cloth the company's mill was in Minchinhampton, located near Nailsworth which was the closest railhead at the end of the Midland branch which also served Stroud.

A detailed model of a 7-plank open wagon operated by Osman Trevor Powell a coal factor and merchant based in Gloucester. Naturally he obtained his wagons on lease from the nearby Gloucester RC&W Co. The Dapol model includes a removable coal load and metal wheels for smooth running.

This wagon has been cancelled for the present as it is available from an alternative source.

Our special edition wagons series is being expanded again during 2007/8. This model of W Butler wagon

W Butlers were well-known tar distillers in the Bristol and Gloucester areas, operating a number of wagons probably supplying the roadstone quarries near Chipping Sodbury, Thornbury and Wickwar in the south of Gloucestershire.

New Antics Limited Edition
The latest wagon in the Antics limited edition series of wagons of the Stroud valleys. Inspired by a wagon built for Henry Heaven, a coal merchant in Nailsworth, by the Gloucestershire Railway carriage & wagon Co. Ltd. in August 1909.

This 7-plank open coal wagon has a removable coal load and is supplied with metal wheels for smooth running.

No more than 250 of this model will be made.

Antics Limited Edition.
Released originally as part of the 2-wagon Woodchester set, we have re-ordered a batch of these 7-plank Harris & Co wagon as an individual release. Woodchester today is a quiet country village near Stroud, but in the first half of the 20th century it was a busy industrial centre on the Midland Railway's branch to Nailsworth.
Harris & company marked their wagons for delivery to Dyehouse sidings, ensuring delivery to the correct private siding of the many such sidings in Woodchester at that time.
