A very special presentation boxed set replicating the famous 'Venice-Simplon Orient Express' which departed from London's Waterloo station and connected with the French railways via a Channel ferry, on the way to Venice. 

The substantial double track circuit is large enough to allow an additional train to be added at a later date to either the inner or outer oval and it is for this reason that the HM2000 twin controller (See power controller section for specification) has also been included so that two trains can be independently controlled while operating on the two seperate circuits. And when it comes to planning a larger layout, the Hornby Virtual Railway CD-Rom, also included, will help the user to do just that!

The loco and coaches are simply superb! You can really see the benefits of Digital Control once this set is assembled. Each of the two locomotives has a decoder factory fitted and are immediately ready for operation. Independent control is guaranteed for each loco even though they may both be on the same track. When the powerful diesel locomotive is coupled to the four wagons included with the set, the Class 08 diesel can then pull them round the circuit just stopping in front of the little 0-6-0 'Jinty'. The 'Jinty' can then be reversed carefully so that it couples to the front of the 08. Then by programming the engines to work in unison the double headed train can move off down the track.

The famous London to Scotland train is presented here in a top-of-the-range Hornby train set with LNER 4-6-2 locomotive and four classic LNER teak coaches, depicting the Flying Scotsman as it ran non-stop from London to Edinburgh in the summer seasons of the 1930s. The prototype locomotive had a corridor link through the tender to the coaches to allow crews to switch over without stopping the train.

This special limited edition train set was produced to mark the 60th anniversary of VE Day, the end of six years of war in Great Britain. Featuring one of Hornby's new models of Sir William Stanier's famous streamlined LMS Princess Coronation class pacific locomotives, 6243 City of Lancaster, painted in the wartime plain black livery with a weathered finish, plus two LMS crimson composite coaches and one brake coach, all with a weathered finish. This excellent train set from Hornby features Gresley designed A4 class pacific locomotive 60022 Mallard, the holder of the world speed record for steam traction at 126mph. Four Gresley coaches in BR crimson & cream livery are supplied to form the Mallard Express, railwaymens' name for East Coast expresses between London and Scotland not given  an official name and recently reinstated officially by current operators GNER.

A stunning train set featuring the LMS Stanier 4-6-2 locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth, named in honour of our present monarch in 1933. Now preserved and regularly hauling excursion trains, this locomotive hauled the Royal train during HM The Queens' Golden Jubilee tour.
This Royal Train train set recalls this historic event, featuring a superb model of 6201 hauling three coaches from the present Royal Train, painted in royal claret livery. Two of these are saloons built for use by HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in the mid-1970's, the third is a brake coach, used to provide accomodation for members of the royal household.

An oval of track is supplied and two points are provided to allow sidings to be added. A power controller and mains transformer are included. The Great Western was famous for its' scenic country branchlines. The Western Spirit train set features the typical branchline train of the 1920s and 30s.

The small GWR 0-4-0 side tank locomotive is a type designed for lightly loaded branchline trains. This set includes a Victorian 4-wheel passenger coach and 3 goods wagons. These vehicles allow the locomotive to run a passenger train, goods train or a mixed train conveying passengers and goods.

To allow the train to be changed and shunted realistically the standard circle of track is supplemented with a point and siding. A set of lineside accessories is also supplied, along with a speed controller and UK mains transfomer.

This train set recalls the early days of British Rail in East Anglia, featuring the Great Eastern Railway design LNER class B12 locomotive in the experimental blue livery, along with two elderly clerestory coaches, freshly painted in BR crimson and cream.
